The peanut butter chip bar sat in my hand with chips visible all the way through, something most bars don’t do. These are the IQBAR Clean Protein Bars, and they’re plant-based, low sugar, and low carb. If you’re hunting for clean protein bars that fit keto without tasting like cardboard, this is the one I landed on. I normally follow a ketogenic diet, so a bar with about one gram of sugar and only one to three grams of carbs works out for me as well, too.

Quick Verdict

One gram of sugar and the peanut butter chip flavor still tastes chewy and scrumptious. That combo made this one of my new favorite protein bars. Most bars cheat you out of the chips. This one runs them all the way through.

Buy if you:

  • Follow a ketogenic diet and need 1 to 3 grams of carbs per bar
  • Want a plant-based protein bar that’s chewy, not chalky
  • Like a lot of chocolate chips packed all the way through
  • Need a grab-and-go snack that won’t spike your sugar

These Became My New Favorite Protein Bar Fast

What sold me wasn’t the label. It was the first bite. Chewy, moist, and loaded with chips. Let me walk through what I found.

What’s Inside These Clean Protein Bars

One gram of sugar and one to three grams of net carbs depending on flavor, that’s the number that matters on keto, and it’s genuinely hard to find in a bar that doesn’t taste like compressed sawdust. These clear it on both counts.

They come in a variety of flavors too. Chocolate mint chip, lemon blueberry, chocolate sea salt, salted caramel chip, and more. It’s got all the flavors. The pack I’m working through is the chocolate variety pack. Beyond the macros, each bar carries functional ingredients like Lion’s Mane, MCTs, magnesium, and Vitamin E, which is where the “clean label” angle comes from.

The Peanut Butter Chip Bar, Opened Up

The peanut butter chip bar has chocolate chips running all the way through, not just scattered on top like most bars do. Look at the amount of chips this has in it. That was my first reaction. Most bars really kind of cheat you out of the chips and the ingredients, but this one runs chocolate chips all the way through the bar, not just scattered on top for the photo.

The texture is what I love. Nice and moist, nice and chewy. Chewy and scrumptious is how I put it. You can taste the sweet taste on it as well, too, even with only that one gram of sugar. Very chewy, very savory. It doesn’t have that dry, chalky drag a lot of protein bars leave in your mouth.

The Small Catch: Size and Sweetness

Trade-off: these bars are small and dense, they won’t fill you like a meal-replacement bar, but the chewiness and chip load make each one satisfying despite the size. The chewiness and the chip load make each one satisfying, but if you’re used to a giant meal-replacement bar, the size takes a second to adjust to. I found myself reaching for another one, which is a good sign for taste but worth knowing if you’re counting on one bar to hold you for hours.

The other thing: the sweetness reads sweet despite the one gram of sugar, so if you’re sensitive to sugar alcohols or plant-based sweeteners, the flavor might land differently for you than it did for me.

Who These Bars Actually Fit

If you’re keto, the one-to-three gram carb range is the rare case where the macro fits AND the bar doesn’t punish you for it. And because they’re plant-based, gluten free, and dairy free, a single box covers the keto, vegan, and paleo people in the same household without a separate snack shelf for each.

If you want a quick breakfast, post-workout fuel, or an afternoon snack that won’t crash your blood sugar, these clean protein bars slot in easily. They’re a solid answer for anyone chasing clean protein snacks that don’t taste like a chore.

IQBAR vs the Average Grocery Protein Bar

IQBAR runs chips all the way through and keeps carbs to one to three grams; most grocery bars skimp on both. Most bars I’ve tried carry way more than one gram of sugar and skimp on the mix-ins, leaving you with a photogenic top layer and a dry middle. This one runs chips all the way through, and the carb count stays low enough for keto.

Where a standard bar might win is size and price per bar. Bigger, sugar-loaded bars fill you up more per serving. But if the whole point is a clean-label, low-sugar snack, that trade goes to IQBAR for me.

My Advice Before You Order a Pack

Buy the variety pack first: flavors range from chocolate sea salt to lemon blueberry, and net carbs shift by flavor, so you can find your one to three gram sweet spot before committing to a full box. The flavors range from chocolate sea salt to lemon blueberry to salted caramel chip, and the net carbs shift by flavor, so grabbing the assortment lets you find your one to three gram sweet spot before committing to a full box of a single flavor.

Store them like any bar, in a cool dry spot so the chocolate chips don’t soften. And don’t expect one bar to replace a full meal every time. Treat them as a snack or light breakfast and the 1g sugar + chewy texture justify the price. I already went back for another one, and that’s the truest test I’ve got.

Pros

  • About one gram of sugar and only one to three grams of net carbs
  • Chocolate chips run all the way through, not just on top
  • Nice and moist, chewy texture instead of chalky
  • Plant-based, gluten free, dairy free, and keto friendly
  • Wide flavor variety to work through

Cons

  • Small, dense bars that may not fill you like a full meal replacement
  • Tastes noticeably sweet despite low sugar, which won’t suit everyone
  • Chip and nut heavy flavors, so not ideal if you avoid nuts

Frequently Asked Questions

Are IQBAR Clean Protein Bars gluten free and dairy free?

Yes, they’re gluten free, dairy free, and soy free per the listing. They’re plant-based and kosher certified too, so they cover celiac, vegan, and paleo eaters. Nuts do show up in several flavors, so check the label if that’s a concern.

How many carbs are in one bar?

Between one and three grams of net carbs, depending on the flavor. Sugar sits at about one gram per bar. That’s the reason they fit my ketogenic diet without wrecking my day’s macros.

Can these work as a meal replacement?

They can as a light breakfast or post-workout bite, but they’re small and dense. If you need something to hold you for hours, one bar may not do it. I’d lean on them as a snack more than a full meal.

Which flavors come in the pack?

The chocolate variety pack mixes flavors like chocolate sea salt, peanut butter chip, chocolate mint chip, salted caramel chip, and lemon blueberry. The full lineup runs ten flavors. Starting with the variety pack is the easy way to find your favorite.

Do they really have chocolate chips throughout?

Yes. When I opened the peanut butter chip bar, the chips ran all the way through, not just on the surface. Most bars cheat you out of the chips, so this stood out to me.

What are the functional ingredients about?

Each bar includes Lion’s Mane, MCTs, magnesium, and Vitamin E, which the brand ties to focus and energy. I bought them for the taste and the macros, not the nootropics, so treat those as a bonus rather than the main reason to try them.

How should I store them?

Keep them in a cool, dry spot so the chocolate chips stay firm and the bar keeps its chewy texture. Heat softens the chips fast. A pantry or a bag works fine for travel and office snacking.

Are these good for diabetics or blood sugar control?

The low sugar and low net carbs make them a reasonable low-sugar snack, and the listing flags them as diabetic-friendly. That said, everyone reacts differently to sweeteners, so check with your own plan and read the full nutrition panel before relying on them.

The one gram of sugar plus the chewy, chip-loaded texture is what pushes this to a 4.5. It drops a bit on value and size, since these run small and you’ll want a second one. If IQBAR made a bigger bar at the same macros, I’d call it a five.
