These Energy Tea Bags Made Me Put My Coffee Down

Someone turned me on to the Zest tea and it really made me put my coffee down. That is not a line I expected to say. I like tea anyway, but I normally do coffee in the morning, and I have been trying to get away from coffee for a while. These energy tea bags are what finally did it. If you want to check the current price while you read, here’s the Zest Energy Tea Bags listing on Amazon.

This is my new pick-me-up. Blue Lady Black Tea, also known as passion fruit citrus. Sugar-free, plant-based, and it boasts increased energy, focus and health right on the pack. Kind of cool. I’m going to tell you what happened when I swapped it in.

150mg Of Caffeine In A Purple-Tinted Pyramid Bag

Each cup delivers 150mg of natural caffeine, roughly what you’d get from a strong drip coffee, and about three times what a standard black tea bag puts out. That gap is why these actually replace coffee for me instead of just supplementing it.

The bag itself is a unique shape. It’s almost like a pouch, a pyramid, and the Blue Lady is a purple tint, which is the color of the tea bag material. You get 20 tea bags per pack. It’s non-GMO, zero sugar, no artificial sweeteners, keto friendly. There are also four or five other flavors beyond the passion fruit one I tried.

What Happened The First Morning I Steeped It

The passion fruit hit me before the bag finished steeping. I had it in the mug for maybe 45 seconds and the whole kitchen smelled like a citrus grove. That’s not something I’ve said about a tea bag before, and I’ve had a lot of tea.

Then I took a sip on camera. Wow. I feel a lot fresher, a lot cleaner, a lot lighter. I’m just charged and ready to go for the day. Having coffee, having tea, and switching to this particular one really gives me the energy and I got more focus in the morning before I start my work. When you want to be attentive, focused, and able to concentrate, that’s exactly what this delivered for me. It’s a little cleaner and a little lighter than coffee, which I like because I lean toward tea anyway.

The Short Steep Is A Rookie Mistake

I rushed the steep for the camera and I could tell. I normally steep a little bit longer, but I pulled the bag after roughly a minute so I could keep the video moving. That’s the one catch worth knowing. Cut the steep short and you’re leaving flavor and probably some of that energy in the bag.

So if your first cup tastes lighter than you hoped, that’s on the steep, not the tea. Give it the full time it asks for. The 150mg is only doing its job if you actually let the leaves work.

Who This Is Actually For

The person this is built for: someone who already reaches for tea but keeps a coffee habit just for the caffeine. I was that person. Now I have a box at home and a box at the office, and the coffee maker sits unused most mornings.

It’s for the coffee drinker who wants out. If you’re trying to walk away from coffee but you can’t lose the caffeine, this bridges it. Same wake-up, lighter feel. It’s also for anyone chasing focus before a work or study block, since that morning clarity is the part that stuck with me most.

Zest Energy Tea Vs Your Morning Coffee

Coffee gave me the caffeine but not the light, clean feeling. That’s the whole comparison for me. This has way more caffeine than regular tea, and it lands smoother than coffee did. I felt fresher and lighter on the tea, where coffee always sat heavier.

Where does coffee still win? Speed and ritual. If you already have a coffee setup dialed in and you love the taste, coffee’s not going anywhere. But if the heaviness of coffee is what you’re trying to escape, these energy tea bags gave me the same charge with a passion fruit aroma coffee can’t touch.

My Advice Before You Brew Your First Cup

Steep it properly the first time. Don’t do what I did on camera. Give the pyramid bag its full time so you get the flavor and the full energy hit. Smell it before you sip too, because the passion fruit aroma is half the experience.

Start with one cup in the morning and see how the 150mg treats you before you reach for a second. And try more than one flavor. I went with the Blue Lady passion fruit, but there are four or five others in the lineup worth exploring. You can grab a pack through the Amazon listing here.

Pros

  • 150mg of caffeine per cup, way more energy than regular tea
  • Left me feeling fresher, cleaner and lighter than coffee
  • More focus in the morning before starting work
  • The passion fruit aroma is delicious, you can smell it steeping
  • Sugar-free, plant-based, non-GMO and keto friendly

Cons

  • Rush the steep and the flavor comes out noticeably weaker
  • 150mg is as strong as a coffee, so caffeine-sensitive folks should ease in
  • You don’t get to pick a single flavor in the 20-count pack

Frequently Asked Questions

How long should I steep these energy tea bags?

Give them a full steep, not the quick one-minute pull I did on camera. I normally steep longer and only cut it short for the video. A shorter steep leaves flavor and energy in the bag, so let the pyramid bag work.

Can I drink Zest Energy Tea iced?

Yes, the pyramid bags work hot or iced. I take mine hot in the morning, but the passion fruit citrus profile would carry well over ice for a warmer day.

How many bags come in a pack?

Each pack comes with 20 tea bags. They’re individually wrapped pyramid bags, so you can toss a few in a work bag without them going stale.

Is there any sugar in this tea?

No sugar and no artificial sweeteners. It’s a plant-based, non-GMO black tea with natural passion fruit flavor, which is why it fits a keto or low-sugar routine.

How does 150mg of caffeine compare to coffee?

It’s roughly as much as a strong coffee. That’s why it has way more caffeine than regular tea and why it was able to replace my morning coffee entirely.

What flavor should I start with?

I started with the Blue Lady passion fruit citrus and loved the aroma. There are four or five other flavors in the range, so if passion fruit isn’t your thing you’ve got options.

Will it help with focus for work or study?

It did for me. The part that stuck was the focus, I got more clarity in the morning before starting my work. If you need to concentrate through a long session, that steady energy is the selling point.

Can I reuse the same bag for a second cup?

Zest Energy Tea bags arranged on a kitchen counter next to a mug and fresh fruit in a morning kitchen setting

I wouldn’t count on a strong second cup. A single bag is built to release its caffeine and flavor in one proper steep, so a re-brew will be much weaker on both taste and the 150mg hit.

Loses half a star only because a rushed steep sells the flavor short; the rest works exactly as it should in my morning routine. Caffeine-sensitive drinkers should ease into the 150mg, and a single-flavor pack option would push this to a five. It replaced my morning coffee entirely, which was the whole goal.
